A new quarter always stirs butterflies in my stomach, probably because of my 4+ yr stint in Financial Reporting.
As we have entered fourth quarter of this year, I am also inching closer to a similar milestone of my sabbatical year.
It was a good time to reflect on my personal growth so far.
Coincidentally, I had a couple of back-to-back conversations with some very close friends. As I shared my learnings with them, I started to realize the amount of shift in me personally.
The fact that I was able to speak about the toughest phase of my life, was a big sign that I was stronger than ever before.
While talking to a friend as I was discussing my learnings. She interrupted me — “Mahima, did you read this somewhere”.
The answer’s yes and no.
I did learn it during my training as a yoga teacher but a significant portion was supposed to be through my own experience.
Every day was about understanding and observing myself.
In the past, I had taken the support of motivational videos and spiritual teaching. But clearly, I was only using them as “crutches”, to get through the day and not doing the hard work.
It was only when I did the homework for a prolonged period of time that I started to see the difference.
Working on your mental health is a lot of work that many don’t realize.
The work is still not done.
I kept saying, I am working on it.
My goal is to continue working on it.
