When I set out to travel early this year, it wasn’t about meeting people or making friends, at least originally.
My only goal was to travel. That’s it.
But without particularly trying, I met absolutely wonderful people.
People who helped me heal and grow. People who made me feel loved and appreciated. People who helped me realize my own biases.
Meeting new people and making friends as an adult, especially as an immigrant in a western country, can be hard. And it was.
For an extrovert like me, it was a hard pill to swallow. After some time, you are bound to find fault in yourself, instead of the environment.
This year cleared out this misconception.
Not only did I meet amazing people, I was lucky to have made a handful of friends too.
From not knowing anybody outside my hometown in India, to having a few people spread across the country.
And the sheer joy of texting somebody you met in Ladakh -
“Hey I am coming to Pune this weekend, let's catch up!?”
That’s worth being grateful for.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
